Kranidi

Kranidi is an agricultural town in the hills of Agia Anna in the south of the Greek Department of Argolis. It is the capital of the province of Ermioni and is surrounded by olive groves. In the southeast is the pine forest of Korakia. Kranidi has approximately 4500 inhabitants who are mostly engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding. From Kranidi there is an excellent view of the peninsula which also bears the name Ermioni.

In the 19th century it was an important trading centre with great maritime activity. Characteristic of the town are the traditional stone mansions with beautiful balconies and special skylights. Beautiful buildings include the town hall, library and churches from the 19th century that are scattered throughout the area. The sights include the three windmills, traditional oil presses consisting of large stones and the main church of Agios Ioannis. In the northeast near the village of Kilada is at six kilometres distance the cave of Farachti.
